Maple Road, Penge
This road is different to the others in that it could not be said to be a through route. It runs parallel to the A213 Croydon Road, between Anerley Road and the High Street.
The road is mainly residential although there are some shops and a primary school at the southern end. Most houses have no off street parking with the result that much of the street is filled with parked cars on either side. These constrict the width of the road, making it difficult for two vehicles traveling in opposite directions to pass. There are also quite a lot of pedestrians crossing the road, but no obvious crossing points in many sections. The hump scheme consists of 7 sets of speed cushions (all triple ones), a speed table near the school on top of which there is pedestrian refuge plus gateway treatments at each end of the road. The cost is £40,000.
